What Does Arb Approved Mean?

The ARB Approved Contractor scheme is run by The Arboricultural Association, the UK’s governing body for the tree care industry. Gaining approval is no easy task and requires a high level of commitment from both the business owner and their staff. To achieve approval, a contractor must meet 65 detailed criteria covering four key areas, including:

  • Understanding and practical application of current arboricultural practice
  • Compliance with legislative requirements for arboricultural contracting
  • Compliance with health and safety requirements for arboricultural contracting (endorsed by the CHAS scheme)
  • Delivering high levels of client service through effective business management

Approved contractors are re-assessed every two years to ensure standards remain consistently high and customer satisfaction is maintained.

The Arboricultural Association also requires all approved contractors to hold appropriate insurance cover to protect against any liabilities arising from tree work.

Why Should I choose an arb approved contractor?

In an industry unfortunately affected by rogue traders, ARB Approved status gives you, the client, peace of mind that you are hiring a professional and reputable company. While our standards have always been high, achieving this accreditation has undoubtedly helped us improve further — particularly on the administrative side of the business, with more robust procedures in place for risk assessments, health and safety, and customer care.

When looking for tree services in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas, we would encourage you to consider using an ARB Approved Contractor as your first choice — even if it isn’t us.
