What Does Arb Approved Mean?

The Arb Approved Contractor scheme is run by The Arboricultural Association, the UK’s governing body for the tree care industry. Gaining approval is no easy task and requires a high level of commitment from both the business owner and staff within the company. In total a contractor has to achieve 65 detailed criteria points covering 4 key areas including:

  • Understanding and practical application of current arboricultural practice
  • Compliance with legislative requirements of arboricultural contracting
  • Compliance with health and safety requirements of arboricultural contracting (endorsed by the CHAS scheme)
  • High levels of service to clients through efficient business management.

Contractors are re-assessed every two years to ensure their standards stay at the highest level & ensure customer satisfaction levels also remain at their highest.

The Arb Association require that their contractors all hold the relevant insurances in place to cover any liabilities arising from tree work.

Why Should I choose an arb approved contractor?

In an industry plagued by cowboys and rogue traders, Arb Approved status gives you the client, peace of mind knowing you are hiring a professional company. Whilst our standards have always been high, earning the accreditation has without doubt helped us to improve aspects of our business. Notably on the office side of things, with more stringent procedures in place to cover risk assessments, health and safety, and improved customer care.

We would encourage you when looking for tree services in Edinburgh and its surrounding areas, to consider using an Arb Approved Contractor first and foremost, even if it isn”t us!
