Project Overview

Thomson Trees was commissioned to perform various tree surgery and maintenance tasks at a private residence in Peebles. The property located across from the high school, required a comprehensive approach to address the needs of its mature trees and extensive hedging. The work was completed over two days, with a focus on precision, safety, and efficiency.

Scope of Work

Hedge Trimming

The property featured significant beech hedging, which required careful trimming to restore its neat and structured appearance. Our team used professional-grade hedge trimmers to shape and reduce the hedges, ensuring they complemented the overall aesthetics of the garden while maintaining their health.

Tree Surgery

• Cherry Tree Reduction: The cherry tree on the property had overgrown its space and required reducing and thinning. Our skilled Arb Approved arborists carefully pruned it back to a more manageable size while preserving its natural form.
• Norway Maple Reduction: Similarly, tree surgery was carried out on the Norway maple to improve light into the property and overall balance, enhancing its structural integrity and visual appeal.

Tree Felling

Several mature cypress trees were identified for removal. These too had outgrown their space, but with the location at the edge of the driveway no reduction would have solved the problem, therefore removal was specified. The trees were felled efficiently, with all works carried out safely to avoid disruption to the surrounding property.

Equipment Used

A key factor in the speed this project was carried out was the use of our tractor, equipped with a crane and dump trailer. Our investment in this machinery (including the addition of our forestry plant hire) allows for the swift removal of all debris, reducing manual handling, and minimising disruption to the client’s property. The equipment also enabled the team to maintain a tidy workspace throughout the project, with all arising dealt with as quickly as they were produced.

Outcome

This project was completed on time and exceeded the client’s expectations. The newly trimmed hedges and reduced trees restored the property’s well-kept appearance, while the removal of the cypress trees opened up the driveway and garden, enhancing its usability and light exposure. All waste materials were efficiently removed, leaving the site spotless.
